ryan saghian rug collection

Fragments is a collection of moments, memories, symbols, and obsessions gathered over years of travel, art, architecture, and design. Each rug captures a fragment of an idea—whether inspired by a Persian painting, classical ornament, movement, landscape, or perception itself. Individually they tell their own story; together they create a portrait of the way I see the world.

GIADA is a family-owned rug atelier with more than a century of craftsmanship behind it, and from the beginning, that history mattered to me. There is something very different about working with a company that understands rugs not simply as products, but as objects made slowly, by hand, through generations of knowledge.

When we began talking about a collection together, I knew I wanted the rugs to feel personal—to carry references, memories, symbols, and ideas that had been accumulating in my head for years. GIADA gave me the freedom to translate those fragments into something tactile, while their artisans brought the level of technique and craftsmanship needed to make each idea feel fully realized. The collaboration became a meeting point between two perspectives: my own visual language and GIADA’s deep understanding of rug making. That balance is really what made Fragments possible.

PARAGON

Paragon is inspired by the whimsical geometry and architectural illusionism found in mid-century Italian decorative arts. Layered borders and repeating forms create the illusion of depth, transforming the rug into a graphic composition that feels both playful and refined. Named after the word for the highest standard or ideal, Paragon celebrates craftsmanship, proportion, and timeless design.

GAMBIT

Named after the strategic opening move in chess, Gambit celebrates confidence, intention, and calculated risk. Its graphic checkerboard composition reimagines a familiar pattern through a contemporary lens, balancing bold geometry with timeless appeal. Designed to command attention without overwhelming a space, Gambit proves that the simplest moves are often the most powerful.

PERCEPTION

Perception is inspired by the eye as a timeless symbol of observation, intuition, and perspective. Throughout Persian poetry and artistic tradition, the eye represents far more than sight—it embodies wisdom, emotion, and the ability to see beauty beyond the surface. The design invites the viewer to pause, look closer, and experience a space through a different lens. A bold, graphic interpretation of the human eye, Perception blurs the line between contemporary art and functional design, transforming an ancient symbol into a striking statement piece that reminds us every great interior begins with the way we choose to see it.

SERPENTIS

Serpentis draws inspiration from the serpent's enduring place in the world of fine jewelry, where its sinuous form has long symbolized elegance, power, and eternal renewal. Framing the rug like a precious border, the design transforms this iconic motif into a refined architectural statement. Both timeless and contemporary, Serpentis wraps a room with the quiet confidence of a cherished heirloom.

DUALITY

Duality explores the beauty that exists between opposing forces—light and shadow, softness and structure, order and spontaneity. Contrasting forms and layered textures create a composition that feels balanced without ever becoming predictable. The design reflects a philosophy that has long defined my work: that the most compelling interiors are born from contrast rather than perfection.
